US Space Command -- Missile Defense Technical Support

 

Background and Objectives

Headquarters Air Force Space Command (HQ AFSPC), Directorate of Air and Space Operations (XO), ICBM and Helicopter Operations Division (XON) required technical, system analysis, programmatic, and analytical support for Headquarters, 20 Air Force (20 AF), Director of Operations at Francis E. Warren AFB, Wyoming. 20 AF/DO is responsible for day-to-day operations of ICBM units assigned to AFSPC. This includes managing training, crew force management and daily operations of forces allocated to US Strategic Command joint missions.

Contract Scope of Work

The contract included a broad range of information technical support, quick response research, special studies, and software development support to help the customer fully use the latest improvements in information technology. The delivery order included development and management planning for the Air Force Space Command Automated Information Systems (AFAIS) and associated technical information systems. The task also included assistance in coordination with other Air Force (AF) agencies and the Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) System Program Office (SPO).

We provided 20 AF/DO AFAIS information technical support, AFAIS programmatic support to include products, services, and expertise to optimize the AFAIS software programs. Support for short notice taskings, research to support unit inputs for improvements and deficiency reporting for AFAIS, AFAIS software maintenance, AFAIS software development, AFAIS software improvements, and AFAIS software test management were also provided. We used software programs, technical analysis, program management tools, decision support tools, and training and education materials to keep AFAIS software programs operational and functional.

Specific requirements included:

Information Technology Support tracking metrics and preparing analyses and briefings; and programming, maintaining, testing, troubleshooting and improving the following AFAIS software programs:

Incorporation of SAMED into TEAMS, including software programming, testing and installation.

Correct Deficiencies, Incorporate Improvements and Modifications into TEAMS and Code Handler Database and Website, providing options, incorporating improvements and modifications into TEAMS, Code Handler Database and Website, and providing estimates and analyses which include time, risk, difficulty and materials;

Quick Reaction Research and Support for AFAIS related tasks to support the development TEAMS master lesson plan databases; and

Put in place and maintain structures, agreements, staff, and facilities to quickly and economically respond to any reasonable, in-scope requirement for support.

Summary

This task order was awarded on a sole-source basis because of the performance on our other two Air Force task orders. Tasks were completed professionally, on-time, and within budget, with only praise from the customer on our performance.
